Does wifi or wimax cause health problems How do they work?

I recently read an article explaining about wifi or wimax technology it has been said that wifi might create some impact and it is not safer for our health, I just want to know about how do they work exactly , I agree its really a wonderful technology but if it creates some impact on health i need to reconsider using wimax or wifi technology. Anyone technical/admin/moderator or member knows exactly how wifi and wimax works kindly explain me and also please tell me whether it has any impact over health.

No one has provided any concrete proof that wireless networks can cause health problems. If there was proof, the equipment wouldn't be on the market.

As a point of reference, cell phones generate more RF output power (next to your head) than a indoor wireless access point.

RF Radiation

RF radiation, it is not clear if radio waves from wi-fi or wi-max can cause health problems. What is known is that microwaves at a particulat frequency cause molecules to rotate and heatup, called rayleigh effect. This is how microwave ovens work. WI-FI & WI-MAX opearate at Microwave frequencies, typically 2 - 10 GHz. But these frequency ranges are not resonant and will not induce rayleigh effect. The power output is also far too low. Basically we are surrounded by radio waves through the spectrum, wi-fi / wimax are simply in the microwave portion. There is no proof that they are harmful.

I would not connect an AP to a 24 db gain dish and look directly at the antenna face-on. Beyond that, I don't worry about it.

hah. I like the last post. Ive been working on cellular, and broadcast towers that transmit upto and beyond 250,000 watts of RF energy. This stuff is all NON-Ionizing Radiation and does not affect the dna structure of a living organism. the most it will do is heat you up, give you a headache... with enough power it will affect your eye sight. Does not cause cancer though. Ive been under heavy radiation sessions for five years plus now. and it hasnt affected me one bit.
