Trying to configure a Linksys/Cisco WRT54G2 router
Basically, while I was away at college, my dad bought a WRT54G2 router for the house. I came home and realized it needed a password. I asked my dad what it was, and I typed it in.
Before I continue, all computers involved in this story are Macs, minus one PC laptop. Two desktops, two laptops - all bought within the last four years. So I typed in the password, and it wouldn't let me hit Enter. Apparently it was one character too short to be entered. I don't know how many of you deal with Apple's strange Airport firmware. Anyway, I was curious as to how it was working on my mom's desktop, seeing as she's only getting the signal. Then I checked out my dad's (the one that's closest to the router/modem), and his wasn't even connected to the Airport. He was hardwire connected via Ethernet.
So I attempted to configure the router using the only know-how I had. I entered the IP address and restored factory defaults. I reinstalled the disc that came with the router and customized the password and network name. I used the same password that was inputted last time, and it STILL didn't work. Now the internet isn't working period... on any computer. Not even my dad's.
