Question A long shot into trees

I have a buddy that will let me use his wifi while I'm sitting at work(a lil check in station). But his house is pushing 475yards from me, plus I'm going through a good hunk of wooded area(90 yards).

I was hopping not to have to mess with his end(replacing the router or running an antenna, "I can" but its not my house). He has a dinky lil DLink with a screw on antenna that I could hook an lil 9bi, maybe a 20bi, antenna to to get the signal out of the house. I guess I could change routers if I had to put a stronger one

On my end at my office, I cant put nothing permanent, so I was looking at a 14bi panel on a lil tripod on Ebay, with a Alfa 1000mW usb dongle(thats all I can think to call it) or something.

Is it possable to get catch wifi under my restrictions?
    Thanks Larry

90 yards of Woods would not let WIFI signal through.

That's what I was afraid of. I knew that that was a LOT of woods to try to get past.

OK, in saying that, I been reading up on 900mHz from RadioLabs and others. Its a lil more than I was wanting spend, but if it would work it would be well worth the price.

Maybe put the dish on my end on a a 5 foot tripod?

Yap, it is a matter of price, and what can be done in the specific environment.

Placing WIFI Antennae above the Tree line, or using None WIFI Hardware solution (I.e., Wireless that is Not at 2.4GHz level) would provide a solution.
