We're thinking about offering a Free Public WiFi Connection at our friends skating rink. I've set up several networks and WiFi connections but never for a Public location. A friend recommended that I setup a VLAN and separate the Public LAN from our Business side. We only have two PC's at the rink so I'm not sure if this is really necessary. I'm not a security guru and I have concerns about teens surfing porn at the rink and then the owner being liable for this. The owner doesn't have alot of money for a robust firewall solution. Any help would be appreciated.
http://www.publicip.net has what you are looking for, completely managed for about $8/month. Since it's professionally managed, you define the access limitations and keep any liabilities and lawsuits at bay...
Register the public IP with opendns.com, set up opendns DNS servers as your DNS servers, and use their filter. It is easy, free, and does a good job. We use it in our business (which is public Wi-Fi) and recommend it.
