I'm trying to come up with the proper word or words that describe what is going on when preventative maintenance (PM) is being done on a computer network. I need this for a service agreement I'm working on.
A network technician who is doing PM routines might be doing: installing security patches, checking for error messages, checking system logs, checking for amount of disk storage space left, doing hard drive degragging, updating anti-virus, etc.
I don't think this can be called "repair" work since nothing is actually being repaired, like replacing a broken hard drive or broken fan. So maybe "tune up" or "tune up and operational check" might fit?
What descriptive wording do you all think I should use to best describe what is happening during this PM work?
Thank you for your suggestions.
