Hi,
I understand that the wireless stuff that I have here uses the same frequency ( or channel, something like that) as the microwave. However, I have always been told by my parents that standing to close to the microwave is not good for you. So, does that mean wireless is not good, looking from the health aspect?

I think the reason no one wants to talk about it is simply because....
noone knows the answer. Research is being done, but results won't be known for years!!!

I suppose it depends on where you live and what antenna you attach.
If you are in the USA and use a 500mw Access Point with a 19DbI yaggie (directional anetnna) then I would not like to stand in its way for too long.
Most of the rest of the world limits the Access Point to max out at 100mw and limits are put on the kind of antenna that can be used.
Still the domestic microwave oven puts out far more than an Access Point. If you are male and plan to have children I would not recommend standing anyway near to a microwave oven when it is switch on. I leave the kitchen completely as there is still very little public information on the subject.

The FCC's rule of thumb is this: give yourself an inch of space for every watt of power used by a device. For instance, if you're using a 12- watt transmitter, keep 12 inches away from it.
