Wifi Help?

There is no dsl available at my house, however when i go into my backyard i can get a wifi signal. i want to get an adapter that uses and external antenna so i can get that signal inside on my computer. how about getting regular AP say D-Link DWL-2100 and setting it to client mode, you can run CAT5 wire all around the house for 100m unlike the USB which max lenght is 7m

ok so i just put this outside, or do i connect it to an antenna? and if it is an antenna do you know whitch one would be the best?

That one has build in panel antenna, signal meter and PoE... all you need for cheap, similar guys used to cost 500$ now its below 100

with this i just hook it up to my computer or do i have to buy some wifi card? im going to use this with my home computer and it does not have built in wifi i think. also how do i hook up the CAT5 wire with this? thanks for all the help.

well ok, the product i recomended is riugid outdoor AP thta can work as client... so if i understood your situation correctly then .... you stick this uniy outside your house facing your neighbor... you run a wire from this device to your touter WAN port if you wanna have separate network (or you your switch) then you connect all your comps to conect to the switch with ethernet wires... you will need to make your own Cap5 cable though and conect PoE powersupply as mentioned in manual... if you want plaine repeater then you might wanna go with D-LINK DWL-2100 in repeater mode

if i want to only want the internet on 1 computer, do i still need to buy a router, and is there anywhere i can buy the cat5 wire premade?

ok for that device you can just conect it to your PC and you dont need any other devices in that situation. As for the premade cable yes and no

Yes you can buy cable just abouteverywhere, BUT there are 2 problems with the device for premade cables:
1) Cables with extra plastic coating on the connectors will not fit in (you need plain connector)
2) if you plan to install it outdoor you need to put isulation ring and connector cover then fix the connector for that isulation rig is between 2 connectors.

actually wait that is a new model w/o the rig so you can use any premade cable for that ... lucky u.. so just get a cable from radio shack (they are such a rip of in prices though)

no u can not use it to crack WPA keys as it is external radio, it transforms wireless signal into regular ethernet packets so you will only see ethernet packets.

no, if you are planing to use any illigal tools you need linux in the first place + no repeaters will help you with that. As of today there is no single utility that would sniff IEEE802.11x on windows. there where some attempts to use packet sniffers but they dont work....

Aircrack-ng works with windows and it is able to crack IEEE802.11x, but all i need to know is that if i repeat the signal so i can get to it in my house, then i would be able to crack it. i know i can crack the network, but i need to know if a repeater will work.

aircrack doesnt work as you need custom DLLs that will derirct your driver to the syste and will work as repeater within windows... they are custom for the system ... if you can do tat I woud assume you would know more about wi-fi then me. thats (A)

(B) you can not repeat WPA sygnal with reqular equpmnet as you need the key first. If you have special radio repeaters you would be able to do that (analog repeaters) but then you will need frequancy filers as analog repeaters repeat evrything they see including alien sygnals. channel specific filters are mad expancive and basically we are looking for a military equipment not mentioning that they ar not FCC complaint

so i geuss i cant use the repeater, but i have crack wep in a couple minutes using my windows xp labtop, and it was very easy.

thats strange, XP is not good for that all programs for such activities where writen in UNIX as there u have direct access to drivers
