I have been reading posts on this forum, but have not found anything related to my question. Perhaps I am still sufficiently ignorant of WiFi as to be unable to see the answer, but, regardless I still would appreciate some advice.

My only Internet connection is by an Alltel EVDO card. I get about 130kb download speeds. DSL or cable are not options because I am too remote (how remote? nearest WalMart is 40+ miles).

My wife has a new I-Pod Touch and wants to wirelessly connect to my laptop to be able to do...whatever. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron E1505 running Vista Home Premium.

Since I don't have an Ethernet input line, it would seem that a conventional router won't work. Is there a way to make my laptop a "server"?

I continued to mine the archives and I think I have the answer --

USB modem plugs into the CradlePoint device, which generates a WiFi signal to my laptop and to my wife's I-Pod.

JCF :D
