802.11n and WPA

Hey, I recently replaced the wireless card in my laptop with an Atheros 5800 N Card.

My Router is a Belkin N Vision router but i'm faced with this problem.

When the WPA encryption is turned on, my wireless n card only gets 54mbps.
However, when the encryption is turned off, my card will get over 130mbps.

Is this because the N card is in draft stages or is there a way to solve this?

Any help would be extremely welcome.

802.11n isnt in draft mode (http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/news/article.php/3774266) so Atheros should have a supporting driver but there support seems to be slightly below "world class". Is this in a Mac?

thanks for your reply, the card is in a packard bell bg-45 easynote running ubuntu and vista.

I've heard of others with the same problem but no one had an answer for them
