Hello, I'm having trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi here at my school. Its been a real pain and i'd really appreciate some help!

I am using a Gateway MT3707 with XP SP3 freshly installed. My wireless card is Realtek RTL8185. I am able to connect to my home network and other routers that simply use WEP, but at school we have an option of using certificates through WPA2 AES or using WPA2 PEAP. Neither work for me.

I have tried configuring my connection according to the University's guidelines but have had no luck. If you need more information, please ask and I will get back as soon as possible. Thanks so much for your time.

Its possible that the realtek driver doesnt support WPA2. I would check for the most updated driver or read the current driver specs before I did anymore trouble shooting.

Thanks so much for replying to my post. I don't really know much about wireless networking or encryption, so please forgive any lack of knowledge that i may portray. I researched the realtek card at the following address:

http://www.realtek.com/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=1&Level=6&Conn=5&ProdID=35

I do not see any information regarding WPA2 in the description, but I find it interesting that no google searches seem to produce anyone else having this problem. This laptop came standard with Vista, it seems to me that if they want to have Vista on the computer then it should be compatible with more advances forms of authentication. Am I out of luck on this issue? I suppose unencrypted connectivity is better than nothing while in class. Thanks again for any efforts.
