I have a D-Link DSL-924 wireless router, connecting to Greenbee broadband. Using my new office Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop, with built-in wi-fi, I always get 54mps and regularly get a 6 Mbps download speed,so absolutely nothing to complain about. However, using my own laptop, which uses a 54mps 11g PCMCIA card (Buffalo),I very rarely get 54mps - indeed, it usually ranges 11-24 and fell to only 5mps and 300Mbps this morning when the Tosh, run in parallel, was achieving 54 and 6.2Mbps off the same connection. The AJP runs XP Pro SP 2 512 RAM and IE7. A desktop using a Belkin USB wireless dongle is also very slow. How can this be?

Probably a driver issue, try checking for an update from the vendor.

To which driver do you refer?

I refer to the wifi nic driver. It may help to check for an update to that driver.
