Am seeking advice on a strange problem.
LinkSys WRT54GR wifi router.
Works perfectly with my two HP laptops.
But my Dell laptop won't reliably connect to it.
It "sees" the SSID, but if you choose to Connect to it, nothing happens ... it will never complete the connection.
However, if you just leave it, sometimes it will spontaneously say it has connected ... but you won't actually be able to use an IP apps on it.
Dell laptop is an Inspiron 2200 with a Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI card running XP SP2. I've tried both the Dell and the MS wifi utility.
The Dell laptop works perfectly for years with my old Trend wifi router.
I thought it might be a security problem, but I've removed all security and still have the problem.
It doesn't seem to be a physical position problem. I can put the Dell and the HP right next to the wifi router, the HP will connect, the Dell won't.
I thought I could upgrade the firmware, but I have v1.04 and the Linksys web-site only has 1.03.
Have spent several hours googling for possible solutions with no luck.
ANy suggestions on where to turn next much appreciated.
