I want to know about the firewall of WGR614l. Is it a part of software or hardware? :confused: because I heard that it will be very fast if firewall functionality is handled by hardware.

I am going to buy Netgear Wireless router. So I want to know about its firewall. Is port triggering supported? I need it for gaming. I also need the DOS feature. Is it there?

Currently I am using WGR614l. It supports DoS. Its working fine. you can buy it.

Netgear has now officially released DD-WRT and Tomato firmwares for WGR614l. So these open source firmwares can also be used in this platform.

Netgear has also released MyOpenRouter Independent Firmware which is based on the Broadcom code for the BCM94xxx boards. It has support for WGR614l. so we can use any of these firmwares for WGR614l. :)

I have also downloaded this new firmware. There are some interesting features in this firmware like Guest SSID, WPA/WPA2, WPS. Try it.

This firmware is very interesting for developers because it is highly configurable. I am trying to implement client bridge version now. Is there anybody who have already done this?

I have tested this firmware. Wireless is working fine. It supports security mode WPA Personal (TKIP), WPA2 Personal (AES), WPA2 Personal Mixed (TKIP + AES). 64 bit and 128 bit WEP are also supported.

I have tried MOR firmware. Guest SSID feature is perfect to protect public from accessing our systems without having to hookup two non open source routers to the ISP router. Is this feature supported by Tomato or DD-WRT?

Guest SSID is not supported by Tomato or DD-WRT firmware.

This feature is needed actually. Thats why I am using now MOR independent firmware.
