I want to know about the firewall of WGR614l. Is it a part of software or hardware? because I heard that it will be very fast if firewall functionality is handled by hardware.

So I want to know about its firewall. Is port triggering supported? I need it for gaming. I also need the DOS feature. Is it there? mona 05-23-2008, 02:02 AM yes, wgr614l supports port triggering. So enjoy the games. :) Johana 05-30-2008, 02:18 AM Currently I am using WGR614l. It supports DoS. Its working fine. you can buy it. Johana 06-26-2008, 05:08 AM Netgear has now officially released DD-WRT and Tomato firmwares for WGR614l. So these open source firmwares can also be used in this platform. mona 06-27-2008, 01:52 AM Netgear has also released MyOpenRouter Independent Firmware which is based on the Broadcom code for the BCM94xxx boards. It has support for WGR614l. so we can use any of these firmwares for WGR614l. :) Johana 06-30-2008, 04:57 AM I have also downloaded this new firmware. There are some interesting features in this firmware like Guest SSID, WPA/WPA2, WPS. Try it. Johana 07-07-2008, 01:18 AM This firmware is very interesting for developers because it is highly configurable. I am trying to implement client bridge version now. Is there anybody who have already done this? mona 07-10-2008, 04:51 AM I have tested this firmware. Wireless is working fine. It supports security mode WPA Personal (TKIP), WPA2 Personal (AES), WPA2 Personal Mixed (TKIP + AES). 64 bit and 128 bit WEP are also supported. bil 08-01-2008, 01:54 AM I have tried MOR firmware. Guest SSID feature is perfect to protect public from accessing our systems without having to hookup two non open source routers to the ISP router. Is this feature supported by Tomato or DD-WRT? mona 08-01-2008, 02:39 AM Guest SSID is not supported by Tomato or DD-WRT firmware. bil 08-01-2008, 04:43 AM This feature is needed actually. Thats why I am using now MOR independent firmware. bil 08-04-2008, 12:52 AM do you people know about any comparison study of these firmwares supported by wgr614l? mona 08-04-2008, 01:47 AM you will get one comparision chart of different firmwares supported by wgr614l from http://www.myopenrouter.com/article/10367/WGR614L-Firmware-Choices-Compared/ have a look. bil 08-04-2008, 04:04 AM The chart is really helpful.
