I've got a Linksys WRH54G wireless router. It seems to work fine. My Dell Lattitude laptop from work always connects to it flawlessly. Our desktop which is connected by wire always works great.

However, our 2nd desktop system (which has a Linksys WMP11 PCI card) is intermittent. Signal strength is always excellent and sometimes it works great. Other times it has disconnected and won't reconnect. Sometimes the security has automatically reset from WPA-PSK/TSIP to Open/WEP. However, that isn't always the case. Putting the security setting back to their correct settings doesn't necessarily fix the problem.

I've got a custom SSID and have security setup.

The laptop works fine even when the desktop won't connect. At that point the laptop and the desktop are right next to each other. I've compared the settings between the two and they are identical.

Eventually it always comes back but it sometimes isn't until the next day.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The card is probably no good or has a driver issue. If the latest drivers don't help either, it's not strong enough to transmit back to the router or it has a internal problem.
