Hi, currently doing a project base on wimax and have some issues that wouldlike to sort out.

1) Mobile WiMax (802.16e) has a "mobility" speed of around 70km/h. is this base on the calculation on handing over speed between base station and NOT on the roaming speed within the cell??? If so, what is the roaming speed within the mesh node?

2) If i have only one client and one base station (non-mesh), can i use the 802.16d equipements with an omni antenna, if my client is moving(ard 60km/h) within the cell in a LOS enviroment?

3) Am i correct to say that the main difference between 802.16d and 802.16e is their, OFDMA vs SOFDMA, handsoff + sleep mode, NLOS vs LOS??? are there anything else that i might have overlook??

Are that any useful links also???

Any comments, answer will be greatfully appreciated ... Thanks... =)

All great questions to which I would love to see some conversation around.

I've read these whitepapers (http://www.intel.com/netcomms/technologies/wimax/PHY_SAP_API.pdf) from Intel. It offers a fairly decent summary of the OFDMA interface specification.

Also check out 802.16e vs. 802.20 (http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/columns/article.php/3072471) in the Insights (http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/columns/)section of WiFiPlanet.

And of course the WiMax section of WiFiPlanet (http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/wimax/) has all the latest WiMax updates.
