How Many times have you returned your Xbox 360 ?
This will be my second time back to EB games .

I have been selling CB and mobile stereo for 7 years now as well as repairing them, I have always had good luck with refurbished product!! Usually refurbished means ( it was broke when still or almost NEW and fixed Like new!)
In the case of my refurbished Xbox 360 I think they polished the covers on the two I have had so far and put them back on the shelf.
If it's not the 3 red lights it will Jam and give a image like a satellite image in a rain storm and awful crackling audio hash. Or just lock up solid during a game.

And then there's Windows Vista. OMG What a PC killer that is. Turns a perfectly good working P III PC into a 486 with 2 MB of ram. ( I also do PC sales /repairs) And manufactures are not making drivers for XP any longer for a lot of components. Mainly the Big name products mass produced pre loaded machines. Every laptop I sold this year came pre-loaded with vista and by choice they all had XP drivers still available . And all of them left here with either XP or dual boot with XP and vista. Xp made each laptop run 40 to 50% faster. What gives with this company and the crap they are selling to the general public?

MS has released 2 perfect winners Vista and Xbox 360 . Both total failures in my mind. End of rant !!!!!! WHEW I fell much better now . LOL

Just once for me. It happened the other night.

Rarely do I have the opportunity to sit down and waste a few dozen of my virtual brethren however the past two occasions that I attempted to take advantage of it turned out to be nothing but a hassle.

First was the headset. I kept getting ridiculed for a squealing microphone until I figured out that I was the tool with the failed headset. Simple fix was to unplug it and play on without the ability to belittle fellow Halo gamers.

The second time was just the other night when I turned it on, just got into a game when the machine locked up, I rebooted it, got into another game but it locked up again only even faster the second time, third time... Red Ring of DEATH!

I called Microshoft and they sent me a box to ship it back. According to the nice person on the telephone I should have it back in only 4 to 5 WEEKS.

and I refuse to by another headset.

I got extended warranty protection when I bought this one. I still seem to end up waiting for them to have 1 in stock but so far it'sd been only a week to 10 days. Just picked up the third 360 in 4 months on Thursday , So far Knock on silicon "he he " it works !!!!!!
All this head ache just to play Halo 3 . The game was good but didn't last to long.
I will stick to the PC games for a while. I run my own BFV server with team speak also 4 of us here and a couple from the family else ware join in for some good fun once and a while.

Thats number 2 for me! Just got the red ring of death tonight. Already called in for my shipping box. I would love to see some statistics on how many of these things have failed. I for one am not pleased, even if it is great when it works ;)

I currently have had my Xbox 360 for close to a year and a half. It was purchased for me by my lovely wife christmas of 06. I also have a cousin that got an xbox 360 that same christmas. We also have a friend of ours that got one a year before we did, got his on release. I myself don't have alot of free time to play and so if I can get in a few hours a week I am doing good. Sometimes I can find a free saturday and may be able to play for 10 or 12 hours, but those are very rare. I have only had my xbox lock up on me once, and I realized that I had it in a space that didn't provide very much ventilation. Once I gave it some space to breath (not out in the open, just not all the vents covered) it has run perfectly. Some people will say that the reason I don't have problems is that I am not a power gamer and thus won't push the system. That is why I included my cousin and friend in this conversation. Both of them are on their xbox 360 all the time. My cousin got his to lock up a few times while playing Mass Effect. But again, once he gave it some room to breath, it hasn't missed a beat yet. As for my friend, I don't know of a single time his has locked up on him. None of us have gotten the Ring of Death.

My guess is that you shouldn't trust a refurbished system. And on top of that, I have heard nothing but nightmare stories from people that bought refurbished gear from EB.

And as to the Vista subject. Vista should be considered a beta at best. And a crappy beta at that.

I've not had it lock up other then when it shut off and when I restarted it, the red ring was bright. The machine was purchased new, then failed and surely a refurbished unit was returned, even though it looked new. They are both situated in such a way to enable unhindered cooling and I refuse to spend yet another 50$ on a the additional cooling unit. If it needs it, then they should have included it.
