Hello,

I am an owner of a coffee shop/jazz club. I am lloking to install an 802.11 b network. Is there any easy way to do this? Is there a kit that has all of the equipment in it? Also if I decide to join a network like Sputnik and allow other users access to my network, do I have to pay some of the revenue to my dsl provider whose connection that I am using? How does this work?

Thanks for the HELP!

Hi There,

I have been working with wireless technology for the year 2 years. I install wireless LANs for a living at large convention centers around the world. Unfortunatley, it is not a cut and dry answer for you. I am unaware of any kits you can buy to install in your coffee house. I might be able to set one up for you if you like! :-) But feel free to ask me any questions.

Let an integrator and roaming partner take care of it....go to www.airpath.com and become part of their network, allowing any WISP user to visit your location and be connected.

First where are you located? There are a lot of different "networks" you can join including Sputnik's. They all range in "complexity." Some require you to also have an onsite server (computer) to monitor the user authentication while in others you have to install proprietary or preconfigured access point devices, and some "networks" set up the whole thing for you.

You are most likely responsible for paying for the internet access to your location - also make sure you read the AUP (Acceptable Use Policies) to ensure you are allowed to "resell" or "share" your bandwith otherwise your DSL provider might be knocking on your door or shut your connection down completely.

I hope this help, be happy to answer any additional questions.
