Is it true that my neighbor can view the websites I have viewed? golfnut 05-28-2007, 09:55 PM Yes they can... Greg Simon Clepton 06-13-2007, 01:05 AM They can't if you use SSL tunnel... golfnut 06-13-2007, 11:22 AM True however, you can still see what web site is visited and because a lot people use the same or similar usernames/passwords for online banking, ebay, Amazon, as they do for their free email account etc., it's only a matter of time... It's best to be very careful of any open network. Greg umdivx 06-21-2007, 02:08 PM If you use a hotspot vpn, or VPN outside of that network, SSL tunnel, and tunnel all web traffic to a remote web proxy, or use a proxy service like TOR (the onion router), or iPhantom, then no they can't see your traffic, but if your just using his network, and he's running any number of traffic sniffing programs then yes he can read your emails, see what pr0n sites your visiting, ect.... - Josh Wifi-Guru 04-23-2009, 04:07 PM Yes and No. If they are sniffing the wireless and it is not secured, then yes they can see ALL your traffic. More home WLAN routers have switches in them and not hub, so non-broadcast traffic would not be seen out of the other ports unless they have something special setup. Oh, and it is illegal to access their network with out permission...FYI. ~K wi-fiplanet.com
