I'm trying to share internet with a neighbor who is unable to get it otherwise. Our house are less then 1500 feet away with a clear LOS. I have two airbridge totals installed on each house pointed at each other. Both are outdoors and powered over ethernet. Both are set to factory settings with no security enabled. I can connect to both using simple monitor when connected directly to my network here. When I try to associate to the one while mounted at my neighbors house, I am unable to find it. All of the lights on the Airbridges are on and the Airbridges appear to be functioning properly. The Airbridge at the neighbors shows an ethernet connection, but I am unable to connect to it using simplemonitor on their computer. Both Airbridges are set to infrastructure. I researched here and concluded that the airbridge was the way to go. Supposed to be somewhat plug and play, but not working that way for me. Would greatly appreciate any tips on getting this to work as I am new to this.

A little more info. I can ping the router at the neighbors from their computer, but cannot ping their Airbridge from their computer or reach it using Simple Monitor. The friewall in the router is currently disabled (Linksys WRT54G). Shouldn't I be able to associate with their Airbrdge from my house even though the Airbridge is not connecting to their computer, or is this possibly my problem? I haven't been able to get to their house to further figure out why I can't reach their Airbridge from their computer. Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks,
Jay

Hello Jay,

That device is a very good one and please do not be discouraged as of yet. I would strongly suggest that you contact SmartBridges and have them walk you through the configuration. They will do that to be sure. I have several long distance links using that very device and it is the only vendor that I remotely suggest that might be comparable to Cisco devices.
