I have a question concerning setting up a WLAN. My company has made the decision to move our admin offices to a new building across the street. This new office will be a wireless office. Due to our rural location setting up a WLAN is most cost effective. What type of equipment would be required to transmit our signal to this new building? Any information you could provide would be most appreciated .

Before you select the equipment, what's the distance between the links?
How high can you mount the equipment so trucks and other metal moving vehicles won't cause interference?
How many people are in the other building and what type of data or applications will they use (i.e. QoS requirements)?
Is there any chance that folks might download music in their spare time?
Because this is a business, security is probably very important for sensitive data or network access protection?
I'd highly recommend a business class product dedicated to bridging (Proxim, Cisco, etc.). I prefer Proxim because of the security features however, you should research these and others and decide based on the requirements of the link.
Cost between $2 to $3k with installation time and cabling. Post installation cost is almost zero because of the reliability of this type of equipment.

You mentioned that the new office was going to be wireless as well as the bridge. Since this appears to be a new installation, you may want to consider a wireless managed switch and thin APs right away. I have been getting many projects recently where the client is switching from a thick AP and normal network to what I previously mentioned. Aruba being the primary system being used.
It is a great topology and will eliminate a great many problems and react efficiently to potential problems.
