Hello, im new here and i dont know a lot about wireless network or so so please help me.

I have a Netgear wg311t wireless card in my computer and i have a laptop wich i want to connect via wireless thru my pc to the internet. I got a program with the card but it seems useless.. You can only connect but not create a wirelss network. well.. at least i think so :D

looks like so:

so i tried with the above settings. i tried to connect the laptop to the card and i enabled internet sharing. but well.. its kind of funny. it finds a network with the name NETGEAR and wpa protection. i put in the password and connect. but internet doesnt work. i shut down my main pc. the signal is still strong. i move my laptop 1 km away from the main pc and the signal is still strong. i also formatted and it, is the same. and when i search for networks with my main pc via the pci card, it also finds the network.. so i tried with ad-hoc. it connects and everything is good. but the internet doesnt work.

so what i was wondering.. is it possible even to connect the laptop to the pc and to the internet wireless without a router and with the software i have?

i also want to make a network so i can connect my wii to it. is there any program to do it or can you do it with windows software?

please help :D, cheers.

well first of all forget about the fancy stuf trying to connect your latop to the internet through your main PC. thats just a mess. connect both your PCs to the Access Point, one at a time and make sure it work before trying anything else.

secondly you said that your main PC can see the access point as configured with wpa protection, but your netgear client on the image/link is configured with WEP. so before doing anything else configure all devices with WPA and TKIP.

Check the manual for adding new profiles, it must be there... otherwise let windows control you wireless. either way make sure which system is controling your wireless SSID and Password.
