I have just gotten these two units to talk to each other on my home network. I have set up MAC address filtering in the AP for the 3Com pc card; however, I would also like to enable WEP. I'm just using the newest drivers for the 3Com pc card and NOT their configuration utility/tool (I'm using WinXP's configuration utility).
The AP supports 128 bit encryption (it goes up to 256 but the 3Com card only goes to 128). When I try to set it to hex encryption, I cannot get the two to talk to each other. Is their rules (outside of the normal 1-9, A-F) on the hex key? If so, what are they..how do I pick what I'm supposed to set for my hex key? Should I use ASCII instead?
Sorry for all the goofy questions but I am a complete noobie to wireless networking and I got this little set-up to start learning how it works. Thanks for any help you all can provide. :)
