I'm having trouble locking down the data rate on a Telxon 960SL terminal to 2mb. Once I remove 11 and 5.5 from the allowed data rates in the terminal's configuration file the terminal will no longer associate with our Cisco AP1200 access point.
If I disable the 11, and 5.5 options in the AP, the terminal will associate at the lower 2mb rate.
Based on observation, I believe that locking down the data rate will help improve the range of the terminals in our warehouse and stabilize the connections. Monitoring the AP stats I can see that in some areas the terminals become unstable and bounce between data rates. Forcing the AP to lower rates seems to solve this problem.
However, we would also like to offer 11mb access to palm pilots and other hardware that may need to connect to the WLAN in the warehouse.
Can anyone advise on how I can limit data rates for specific terminals?
Thanks,
-Todd
