Hi!

I honestly know nothing about wireless routers and so i was wondering if it is possible to create a wireless LAN between 2 houses ~200 ft away in order to share the same internet connection?

I hope I came to the right place for the answer.
Thank you.

their is a way to share you internet conection between two homes. The answer is a wireless router and a repeator. Now it is very simple. This is what i would recomend. First of all you want to use 2.4ghz not 5ghz. Now woth that said here are the products you might consider getting ( sum research would be good) Start with a DLINK router a good modle would be the DLINK DI614+ router. Then you need a repeater here I would recomend using a DWL900AP+ this will work as a AP or a repeator. With the rihgt positions you will be able to share you DSL/CABLE with no problem.

PS: the repeatos can be in the second home..

Thank you for the prompt answer.

That sound great!
So, all I would need is a Wireless Router and a Wireless Access Point? One in one home, and the other in the second home?

Thank you.

PS. Does it mater if the computers are in the basement?

It does matter were you have your computers. Wireless is really wierd. the best thing you could do is look at your environment. Router claim to give you about 100 yards but it is hard to get that type of range. in reality you will get about 100ft to 150ft so measure correctly so that you can get the best signal. you might even need 2 APs.
