I am trying to incorporate a new Thinkpad X30 into my existing network... basically two XP boxes and one Mac into a Linksys router and one Apple Airport which also goes to the router... I have an iBook that uses the Airport currently and I get perfect reception everywhere in the house on the iBook... alway reporting maximum signal strength...
enter the thinkpad... I have got it set up to connect to the Airport and it works... using 128-bit encrypt... but the connect is very flaky... almost never at max signal strength... in fact signal strength flucuates from moment to moment while sitting in the same place... the performance is not great at all one minute, then speedy the next, then awful...
does anyone know of any optimum settings for the Airport so that this Thinkpad will get better reception? it's almost like a noisy signal... but the iBook is clear as day...
any suggestions much appreciated...
