take a laptop and load the many free site survey or signal strangth measuring tools available and go around the site, is the loss of signal even or only in some places, this will give u an idea about the antenna or box failure if any or any new attenuating objects in the room.

dear bjorn, better contact your vendor, well as far as i can understand, -80 is nothing but -80 Dbm of receiver signal strength, which is pretty good, -80 can have a 11 Mbps datarate , in theory at least, practically say 5.5 Mbps.
but netstumbler does not support D-Link. please check with the vendors.
place the DL-120 at a different locations and see the difference.

The problem is poor signal strength. Signal fades fastly with distance, if you can't move the AP, the alternative is changing high gain antenna. Remove the original small black antenna, put a high gain antenna , you'll enjoy high speed WLAN performance.
Please check high gain antenna in www.everfocus.com.tw

Good luck!
