hi, have wired network....was wondering if anyone out there new how I can setup an access point on my wired network so I can surf the internet wirelessly....I have cable modem to wired router (not wireless )and 3 computers wired to the router....want to setup access point so I can surf the net wirelessly....allready have access point...so buying wireless router out of question....the access point is linksys wap54g..thanks....

You do not need a wireless router. I prefer AP's to them myself. You just have to plug the AP into the switch port and configure it. That's it.

was wondering if there is a step by step procedure for doing this....I have set the linksys wap54g access point up in access point mode....there is a interface on their that says lan..with ip,subnet,and gateway...would I put the isp gateway in this box and do i have to put static address in the laptop the wants to access this wireless network....access points cant give of dhcp can they....thanks....

I would setup the AP to receive its information automatically. I also would allow the router to act as the DHCP server for it as well as the client computers.
