Hi all,

I have a D-LINK 624 router together with an EDIMAX USB 2.0 Wifi that has a 5523 chipset. The problem is that when I am transferring files the connection goes down after some few minutes.

I tried to get the latest drivers since the drivers installed are of 2004 but I could not find them.

Thanks

You did not need to start a new thread, this is related to the signal strength problem you mentioned in your previous thread. It will not get better until you resolve that. Have you tried any of those antenna enhancements I linked?

Hi,

I did not try those ehancements you told me. However I have bought another antenna which was has a better DBA.Moreover when I transfer files the signal was Very Good since I moved the USB to a better place. I also plugged the USB WIFI using a cable.

I think that the drivers are the problem. Anyway what I will be doing is to take back the EDIMAX WIFI USB and get a DLINK PCI so that I do not mix brands. Or else I will be doing a UTP cable which will be the more safest option.

Thanks

Please do not be too reliant on those signal indicators that come with the client application. They are not accurate at all and give false readings. Getting a program like NetStumbler will give you a much better indication of signal quality.

The PCI card approach may improve your situation, as it may allow you to add a higher gain antenna as well.
