Im running a simple 2-PC Wifi network, on of the 2 is wired to the router and the other (Mine) is wireless through a Linksys Wireless G PCI adapter connecting to a Belkin Wireless G router/AP F5D7632-4 V3000. Now I know I should not be running a mixed system but this is the best I can do.

There is only my network in my area, im running on channel 10. Getting signal strength of 68% or -61dBm, and noise of -95dBm. Network is totally open, so its not overhead from security. The transmit rate stays at around 48Mbps, however the recieving rate goes up and down from 1Mbps to 36Mbps. Right now its around 4.40AM and the signal quality according to Linksys Monitor is quite good (7/10) however during the day it drops to around 3-4 lines.

As far as dimensions go, I dont have an accurate measurement, but the router is around 15m probably less away from my PC, in a straight line. heres a diagram

P is the AP/Router and C is my PC.

Any help would be appreciated, if you need any more info just let me know ill try to get it.

Sorry, I am confused as there are two 802.11g devices, so why do you consider it a mixed network? Also is the router and adapters all using the latest firmware and drivers?

It just might be a bad router as well. I have little respect for Belkin devices, but that is my opinion.

When I said mixed I meant as in two devices from different companies, and yes as of today they are all running the latest firmware, however the Belkin router just keeps acting up, just now the signal flactuated between 93% and 57%.

Also when I enable WPA-PSK on the router and the PCI card, I seem to get connected to the net for around 25 seconds during which I have no internet or access to the network.

Im stumped, and I agree with you Belkin support ****s, I havent even called them but from what ive seen with this router, im convinced, However before I give up ill see if I can get this "router" working.

One last detail my computer is currently under my table, I doubt its important but just incase its something REALLY obvious like that.

The signal strength is not very good for being that close. Is there something in between that might be blocking, absorbing or reflecting the signal? Are there other wireless signals in the vicinity? How strong are they? What channel are they on?

Two things I see. First it could be the router, you know my thoughts on that. Second could you try and locate the computer near the router or move the router to see if the issue goes away or not? If it does go away then some sort of antenna enhancement might be the solution.

Or getting a USB wireless adapter and trying these setups. I prefer these and use them all of the time.

Sorry, but I gave you two solutions as to how to cure the problem. Both not being very expensive either. Or some how move the router closer.

Ill probably try the parabolic reflector first see how that does, Im just a bit confused as to what it supposed to look like. Any photos?
