Greetings all,
I'm hoping you all can help me out. I'm not particularly sharp with routers, and I have a bit of a problem. I have a Belkin pre-N that's been a fine addition to my network for around 4 months. I just picked up an Xbox 360, however, and have had some pretty serious problems. The 360 needs certain ports opened up, including 88, as described by this instruction manual
http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Belkin/F5D8230-4/Xbox_Live_360.htm
The only problem is, I have the F5d8230-4v2, and this is for just the regular f5d8230-4. The collision detection system, which I just learned about 3 days ago, reserves port 88 for its own use. As a result, I am running a very laggy connection.
I'm a reasonably bright guy, and I expected that somewhere on the internet there'd be an answer to my question, but while I've come across others with the same problem, none of them have gotten a satisfactory solution. I'd like your help.
The other stats on my network are probably inconsquential, since if I take the router out of the mix and connect directly to the modem, everything's peachy.
I can't turn off the wireless, since I just bought a top-of-the-line laptop for my wife to start taking her Master's on.
Any questions or details you may need will be happily furnished.
