ok i want to somehow increase my connection speed
right now im at a depressingly low 11mbps, whereas i think the problem lies in my router.
im using a d-link router my isp had given me where it tops out at 25mbps or something like that.. it ****s

so my question is will buying a new router increase my connection speed?
my AP is 2 floors down (probably a good 25-30ft) and I have days where my signal can flucuate from low to good to very good, 2-4 bars but rarely if ever a full 5? but mostly good to very good

im thinking of purchasing a D-Link DI-624? any suggestions?

You are going to need to describe what you have in more detail. What do you have now? Brand and model as well as what the wireless client is in the computer.

If the ISP gave you that device, is it directly connected to the provider's cable or phone line or connected after the perimeter device?

You have a signal strength problem as well. That will affect your bandwidth and getting a new router will mostly like not help that much as you have to resolve the signal strength issue first.

the router is directly connected to my dsl line, its a D-Link DI-604? im pretty sure they stopped making these a while ago, but yea its capacity is at 25mbps
Im using a D-Link DWL-G520 adapter

Just recently my signal started fluctuating more than usual, i would have to move my computer from time to time just to get 3 or 4 bars. And whats really wierd now is that before it used to never cut off the connection but on the rare occassion it will now?

Just to make sure we are talking about the same device that router still needs to have a DSL gateway between it and the telephone line as far as I remember.
