Looking into multiple ssids on the cisco 350 wl bridge and 1200 access points. Can you configure a particular ssid to have priority over other ssids as far clients associating and authenticating? For example if you had one ssid for voip traffic and one for general internet traffic, it would be nice if the voip ssid had priority over the other ssid. Does this make sense to anyone?
Any feedback is welcome. Thank you.
It does not really work that way. The industry is going to a technology that is developing markers that are added to the packet headers to determine QoS and that is what drives a higher priority for VoIP or streaming video. This link talks about it.

We are doing something like that with policy maps in IOS.
I think it's kind of like when you give one route a preference over another.
Honestly, I don't know enough about it to have a conversation, but we seem to be doing it and I wouldn't know if it works or not.
But I can confirm that several vlans (ssid's) have policy maps on them and somehow it is supposed to give priority to the voip...
I could send M/Q the piece of config it appears in and perhaps he could decipher it....
I think you both should read the link I have posted. Cisco is light years ahead of most vendors when it comes to wireless VoIP. They must see it as a future big deal.
Their technology does not classify packets; it prioritizes packets based on Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) value, client type (such as a wireless phone), or the priority value in the 802.1q or 802.1p tag.
So, Spider, that maybe what you are referring to. I bet you are as I know you guys are very avant garde and in the know.
