linksys wireless card unable to connect....please help

hello. I reside in Manhattan and I have a linksys G STX wireless card. I am able to get the signals from about 6 unsecured networks, yet I am unable to connect. I get the message "you are connected to the access point, but the internet cannot be found".

Sometimes I get a connection, but I get kicked off repeatedly. I have the Ip address/subnet/gateway/etc info for the wireless networks i want to connect to. Please help.

Before we go anywhere, do you have permission to associate with the networks? Please be honest as it is easy enough to figure out.
