Hi
Have connected an ADSL-Router with a wireless LAN PC card to my workstation (Windows Me); works fine.
Have connected a wireless USB adapter to the client workstation (Windows XP Service Pack 1). Network connection says "cannot find wireless Lan".
Wireless USB adapter is however listed in ControlPanel/DeviceManager without any error code.
Interface supplied with the wireless USB adapter does see the Network Name (ESSID) and Mac address of my router.
Wireless Network Configuration Wizard is not available in Control Panel so that I wonder whether I'll have to install Service Pack 2 to make XP detect the wireless network connection or...?

I would suggest very strongly, that you should install SP2 even if it is not just for the wireless networks. SP2 fixes a lots of other issues (including better wireless support) including security, and other patches to further secure your computer.

Got hold of a German version of SP2.
After which XP detected my wireless LAN but refused to connect to it.
So I uninstalled the USB-adapter manufacturer's software and Windows now duly connects to my wireless LAN.
All that is left now is to boost the signal strength which varies from very low to good.
Thanks & cheers.
