Hi All,

How many users have replaced the wired LANs in their homes and offices (not talking abt big companies, they've already gotten into wi-fi, jes the small personal businesses) with WLANs?
All those who have, do drop in a line here. Just wanna know how popular wi-fi's getting
I'm from India and the wi-fi scene is not that exciting here except for a few cities. I got a WLAN setup at my home a couple of months back and am jes loving the freedom..
I suggest u go 4 wamp. Its easy to install for newbies . bye

Hi

I'm from Russia (St-Petersburg). The modern technologies come slowly to the countries like Russia. Of course, Wi-Fi is a good possibility to make your home network more flexible then before but when over 90% users of the country have got a dial-up Internet connection (and they pay not for the traffic but for the time), Wi-Fi looks less interesting. Our companies use it not so often because then they have to think about the data safety on the air interface too. However Wi-Fi was applied at the several cafes in Moscow and S-Petersburg, but this new service isn’t free and moreover it’s too expensive for the most users.
Wi-Fi equipment has low prices but when we try to count the expenses of the finished Wi-Fi solution, the price growing rapidly because you mustn’t forget about authentication and billing systems. It’s OK, but there are many guys who don’t know what to do to begin. It would be better if the vendors could suggest finished Wi-Fi solution special for the restaurant/café (hotel and etc.) including equipment (depending on the coverage), authentication and billing systems, specialized software (depending on the industry). I’m sure that Wi-Fi service will be cheaper and cheaper (in Russia or another country like it), and then there are many companies will look for the simple decisions that don’t require special knowledge to install, to maintain and to use it.
