Cracking WEP

I would like to try cracking my own wep for my wireless router.

I have read about several different types of sniffer programs which
has really peak my interest. Most seem to run on Linux which
I don't have. I also heard there is a CD that loads Linux
to allow you to run one of these programs.

Any info would be appreciated.

I tried several of the linux versions without luck. More than
likely it is due to my lack of linux knowledge.

Is there any simple windows version without a complicated install?

Something easy like Netstumbler except with a wep cracking capability.

I might have tried that one too. It didn't work but it could
have been due to no support of my usb adapter.

None of the cracking programs are setup for a USB adapter. If you are using Linux your best bet would be to compile a driver yourself.

(I am not sure if I have posted in right forum, so MODS please move if needed) I have a network setup and I wanted to see if I could crack my own WEP. I am now really intrested and I keep going to give up, but then I think I will have one more go. I have heard about Aircrack and some other apps but I can not run them, I dont know if it's my Wireless network card is not compatable (Manufacturer: Billionton Systems - Model: Ralink RT2500), but I thought with my laptop only being bought last year, it shoulsd work, but I am not sure. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 and would prefer a Windows App. I do have Ubuntu (Linux) installed on my hard drive, but prefer to use a Windows app, but if needs be, a Linux version.

So basically I would like to know if there is a app that will crack my WEP which will work with Windows and my wireless network card. THANKS for any help in advance.

EVERYONE that wants to crack someone else's WEP says they want to crack their own, it's kinda like the people that say they buy Playboy 'only for the pictures', or better yet, tell their own doctor; 'I have a friend that....'

Hi, maybe this is not the right post...I've got a wep key, some weeks ago everything was ok, but recently (i think the router is changed) the wep key is the same, i can connect to the network of the router but the ip is not the same and the dhcp doesn't work (also the SSID is different) . There's some way to find the router ip?
