Can someone please confirm, deny, or point me to useful info? Here is the scoop:

I am trying to get a [reliable] connection to the only alternative for broadband in my town (wireless). I get no stability (lots of ping timeouts) and often ping times skyrocket.

The company tells me that even though I am spitting distance from their tower and can see the [omni] antenna with 8X binoculars, I am getting interferrence from trees because the signal *** here is the part I want to know *** really does not follow line of sight; rather it dips down into the trees before it gets to me.

I really do have a clear line of sight, unobstructed, to their antenna. It is questionable whether ANY of their customers are getting a good signal because they only use the service for limited browsing.

Help? Am I being told the truth or fed a load of fertilizer?

They could be telling you the true. Radio waves aren't compact and can spread out over distance. There are companies making antennas that can focus a signal so that it travels straighter.

Someone pointed me to this site
www.fab-corp.com
The Line of Sight link on the left explained what I had in question.
Thanks for the reply, Ed.
