Hi i recently started my own company and i wanna continue doing wireless services but now ofcourse i have to buy my own application. at first i thought AirMagnet Surveyor was the best, even though i dont like the way it handle multiple floors. then i talked to a reseller and he said "the only software that can handle multiple floors is really Wireless Valley" now i have no idea about that one, but the screens look much like Airmagnet Surveyor only that Wireless valley has some thing called "wireless predection" which sounds really really cool. its some feature where it estimate the number of AP and their location just by reading a plan drawing.

thats the key to my problem with Airmagnet Surveyor. if im doing a survey in a location with many floors i need a TONS of APs to be sure there wont be alot of overlapping when im done, so some "predection" would be really nice.. loads of talking here.. hehe anyway, please let me hear your advice about Site Survey applications!

Thx in advance

p.s ill get a cisco pcmcia for my notebook monday so i can try Valley's trial

Well, I am really biased here. So bear that in mind. I will unconditionally say that you will not go wrong with using any AirMagnet product. I know exactly what you are saying and I have found that aspect of the site survey will be best served by your experience. Wireless Valley is not going to replace your skillset in that regards. I would never give up my AirMagnet for anything, period. It just works too good at the basics and is very repeatable.

You may want to PM spiderbite, he has a great deal more experience with AirMagnet than I do. Very good resource as well.

Good luck on your venture and let us know how we can help.

Hey, where have you been hiding. And what can I say you are the real deal. Seriously, I have no experience with them, but have heard nothing but good reports. It is just that AirMagnet is there also.

I have been really busy working with this wireless stuff, doing lots of cool links and really enjoying it. I just did some interesting stuff with the Cisco 1242's and looking into the 1500's. I need more time on the boards and doing more R&D. Sometimes you get so close to what your doing you can't see it anymore.
Take it easy

Sure you, spider and golfnut have me green with envy. I am mainly a meager wireless consultant with a full time systems admin job. Well, I guess could be worse off to be sure and and I certainly understand Microsoft operating systems.

Glad you back for a bit and if you can share your wealth with us peons. I would be glad to stick any papers or articles you, spider or golfnut would like to prepare.
