I am a student trying to write a paper on comparing WLAN access controllers for the office, and office enterprise.

This access controller area is quite new to me. I read these threads and Jim Geier's excellent article, but I am not sure for how I would compare the Blue Socket, Netmotion and others to Cisco, Symbol and Proxim controllers.

It seems they are focused toward hotspots, subscriptions - but could be offered in the office suite.

It would appear that Cisco topology is different from Symbol - according to the marketing interviews, HOWEVER to a student novice to this area - marketing interviews don't provide enough for writing a college level comparison.

Are there any differences with respect to 802.11 a, b, or g - for the access controllers?

Can you email me some sites or white papers on how to compare access controllers like Cisco, Symbol, Blue Socket Nomadix and any others I should be aware of.

Thanks,

The access control function operates above the physical layer, so there is no dependence on 802.11a, b, or g. Hopefully some vendors can email you detailed papers on their products. You could also try posting detailed questions here, and hopefully someone will be able to answer them.
