Looking for a good middleware application

I am currently running 240 Symbol RF guns The guns run a telnet session back to a telnet proxy server. The current middleware app that runs on the server is not able to keep up with load.

I looking for any suggestions on middleware applications.

any suggestions would be appreciated !
