for the past year i have had it like this and love it,no problems and solid , i made a glue block and sealed the connection in a mold using hot glue gun (check pic) may not look pretty but it is the perfect solution i see to ensure the survival of the mmcx, now recently saw these mmcx protect pigtails on ebay and i was wondering how exactly does it "protect". its no different than having just a regular pigtail http://cgi.ebay.com/Adapter-MMCX-to-RP-SMA-Protect-Wireless-Card-Jack-Senao_W0QQitemZ5838536277QQcategoryZ45000QQssPageN ameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

well anyway just thought i would share my mmcx protection method

The eBay device was marketing on the notion that you do not have to remove the MMCX connector with that pigtail. The removable connection moves up to the SMA connector. I have little need for that, I am just very careful. Also the other bad thing is that it introduces another connector to the mix which reduces the available power to the antenna by 1db. Your setup is nice, but it would not work for those who need to remove the antenna when they put the notebook into a case or go mobile.

It is always what will work the best for you.

ah yes the only downfall, but for me its no issue, because i use 2 antennas for it and both can connect to the n-male bulkhead on the card , i do go mobile and i also made a box for the card for safe traveling..the box is relatively small and can be put in the bag and i also hot glued some bubble wrap inside the box for extra precaution =-) dont be fooled by size of box in pic its only (inches) 5"Length x 3"high x 3 1/2" wide

You can use a nice pair of fine point tweezers to remove a mmcx connector without damage being done to the cable or connector.
