Hi, guys! Could I eventually switch my coffee machine on, using WLAN? I`ve got a hotspot, but I have no idea what kind of device it would be needed to get the signal on my coffee machine. Thus my Hotspot is limited, as far as reach is concerned. Can someone give me a tip?
Not a hundred percent sure what the question is and how it relates to a hot spot. But I know of a few wireless/wifi proprietary devices that will turn appliances on/off.
If you want check out the SmartHomes website or I4Control website for that sort of device. I know of no generic device that is controllable from a computer as of yet.

There is actually a company in the UK, in which you can turn appliences on and off using your computer, using wireless. www.pcworld dot com. They have various items on there, including lights security, and yes a system to turn your sockets on and off, (which your coffee machine is plugged in to) As for filling it up, and putting in the coffe, you will have to do all that manually.

X10 (x10.com) modules (which are the same ones Radioshack sells at more than twice the price.... but handy if you need a module today) have a computer interface. You could use remote desktop to access a computer and make it turn things on and off.
The only hassle is that the wall plate switches are for incandescent light only. Flourescents will burn out the modules. Of course, I don't use anything but CF lamps anymore, so I have a few extra wall switch modules that are pretty much useless.
I think I'd just get an espresso machine or a coffee pot with a timer.
Another problem is malfunctions, like the computer turning on all the lights in the house at 3 am.
As for filling it up, and putting in the coffe, you will have to do all that manually.
Which makes me question the practical reason to remotely turn on a coffee pot.
Unless u have one of them coffee makers that have a permanent water connection and a large coffee reservour that dispense the precise amount of coffee into the decanter each time... surely this kind of coffee maker already has a timer?

At first I thought the original question was a joke, now I can’t imagine why it was ever resurrected. Let’s let sleeping dogs lay.
