How many connections has AP?

I need to know how many connections has a AP. I mean has it a end number ot connections from clients like wierd switchs 6,8,12 .. .Or it depends on the devision of the traffic. for example 802.11b 11Mbps AP will have more clients connected for 50Kbyte per client than 100Kbytes.
