Hey folks. Brother-in-law just opened a small business in an office. In order to help him save money, his landlord (LL) offered to let him connect to his (the LL) DSL broadband connection via WLAN connection if he wanted to (LL's office is about 100 feet away in next door building). So BIL wants me to help him choose a WLAN solution and help set it up.
Other than the fact that his LL has a DSL connection, I know nothing else at this point.
So my question is, I'm not sure if I should be looking at a dedicated AP for this scenario, or should I look at the more complicated (albeit secure) Router/AP combos. Because I don't really want to mess around with the LL's puters too much, I want the implementation to be as non-invasive as is possible for HIS PCs while still maintaining some degree of security above average. All my BIL needs is Internet connection, doesn't need to network with his LL's PCs or anything.
One other question, in all my recent general reading of 802.11 stuff, I've seen advice that one should disable SSID Broadcasting on the AP if it's supported, but I never see this mentioned in the actual hardware specs for the hardware I review. Is this a common feature in the latest APs? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
