EAPOL vs EAPOW in 802.1X

I've been reading 802.1X related material, and i'm little confused about the difference between the EAPOL and EAPOW. The 1x standard only describes the EAPOL. So, is the EAPOW same than EAPOL, and the EAPOW is just used to emphasize the connection to the WLAN? Or are there some fundamental differences between the EAPOL and EAPOW?
