Okay I ran Airodump and got some IV's and then i ran them through Aircrack and it says it's testing keys and the number of keys is ridicilous, so I left it to run a few times for 6 hours each and I got nothing. So my question is how long does it take to get the capture file from the IV's and where does the capture file go? Any help is appreciated.

I am not sure what you meant by ridiculous amount of IV's. But it takes a significant amount to even attempt a crack. WEP cracking is not an exact science. The number of required IVs depends on the WEP key length, and it also depends on your luck. Usually, 40-bit WEP can be cracked with 300.000 IVs, and 104-bit WEP can be cracked with 1.000.000 IVs; if you're out of luck you may need two million IVs, or more.

There's no way to know the WEP key length: this information is kept hidden and never announced, either in management or data packets; as a consequence, airodump can not report the WEP key length. Thus, it is recommended to run aircrack twice: when you have 250.000 IVs, start aircrack with "-n 64" to crack 40-bit WEP. Then if the key isn't found, restart aircrack (without the -n option) to crack 104-bit WEP.

The problem also is that newer equipment does not give out "weak IV's" to the same extent as equipment built before 2K2. It also depends on the complexity of the password as well. I hear all the time how easy it is to do, but every time I try it it takes a significant amouunt of time and work.. Even using all the new and cool tools. This link is a good tutorial on this subject.

I have 54,000 IV's, and did you copy that from somewhere, because I read it before.

No I do not believe I plagiarized those statistics, it is pretty common knowledge as to the requirements. I have been using those stats for many years and really do not need to.

You obviously are dealing with an other than simple pasword and that fact that you do not have anywhere near the required amount is evidnet as you are not able to crack it.

I am not sure how much more can be said here as I see one of your threads got locked as it was something of a no no I guess. I will have to get some clarification as to what is acceptable behavior as that appears to have changed recently.
