JimGeier 12-01-2002, 08:01 PM I have some experience using Symbol's WLAN phones, but didn't have very good performance for more than a few users. This system operated over 802.11 (2.4 GHz band). I think you'd have better performance with 802.11a systems. oshea85 12-02-2002, 08:02 AM I've built demo systems for the Vocera Communications system (hands-free, VoWIP). Works great, even with no QoS. Takes very, very little bandwidth, so voice seems to just sneak its way through. I've torture-tested it, and even at near-complete WLAN utilization, the voice quality is still acceptable. I've also run voice over P2P wirelelss links, and I can tell you that you will most likely require a full duplex setup (2 links), or an FSO solution (works fantastic). Don't have any experience with Symbol or Spectralink. Jim, were you using APs that supported their prioriitization mechanism? JimGeier 12-06-2002, 09:56 AM It's been a while, but I believe the APs had some proprietary mechanisms (for prioritization) built in. wi-fiplanet.com
