If I only have VoIP connected to my broadband line (no computer network at all), do I need to be as concerned about my VoIP setup being subjected to span, malware, viruses, hacking, as I do a regular computer which is connected to a broadband line?

Are VoIP conversations just as secure (or more secure) from monitoring as my regular dial tone line?

I have a feeling that the VoIP is already encrypted as it is being used and therefore isn't as open to hacking, spoofing, malware, etc., as regular computers.

Thanks,

Hi Planet:

Thank you so much for your post and that link.

I apologize for just now noticing the post earlier.

Evidentally there are security concerns on this VoIP stuff that aren't redaily apparent.

I don't understand how VoIP security concerns manafest themselves when using VoIP. Can you (or anyone else) tell me how these concerns can cause problems?

Thanks,
