integrate infrastructure and ad-hoc

anyone know if its possible to simultaneously run adhoc and infrastructure networks off of one wireless nic?

i want to extend the range of my access point with my desktop. and then connect to that same interface with my laptop.

is this even possible?

The best way to make a range extension is using a repeater Access Point, if you have a Cisco Access Point you can use the repeater feature to do that. Or with Linksys WAP11 you can use the Client Access Point mode to work as a repeater.

Or if you want you can install and Amplifier or more Power Antenna for having better signal in the other location. visit www.hyperlinktech.com or www.ydi.com

I never tested but if you install two Wireless Card in the same Desktop you can use the first one with infrastructure mode and the other with ad-hoc mode. Remember that you should use different channels and SSID for avoid collisions
