hi, i have a wireless network that was working fine. then I was out of home for a month and when I got back there were 5 new access points in my area. i presume that's why my wireless network started dropping every 2-5 minutes the moment i had it on. so I made my network on channel 1 which was 5 away from all the rest but the problem is still here. now I would presume that's still due to some sort of interference but there is something strange about the situation, when I get dropped I can not connect to my wireless network when I select it from the list of available ones, but when I run net stumbler I am automatically conected to one of the other networks that is not encrypted and when I close it I am automatically conected to my own and I can hold the connection for 5-10 minutes and then i get dropped again. this was done more than 10-20 times and it aways worked that way. Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be?

i have win xp sp1, linksys AP it is B network, and if somebody wants to dig into this I have the netstumbler output.

cheers

install windows SP2, there is an issue with windows XP Sp1 where it will connect to the strongest signal, and with 802.11 the signal strength flucuates and this is what is causing your issues.

So install SP2, turn off auto connect unsecured network in the XP sp2 wireless settings and this should solve all of your issues.
